Bethorm and CaveMaster with Jeff Dee & Talzhemir

Tonight the geeks were honored to be joined by Jeff Dee and Talzhemir, co-creators of the sci-fi fantasy RPG Bethorm, The Plane of Tekumel as well as the award winning CaveMaster!

Some of you know may know the name Jeff Dee from back in the TSR days of Dungeons and Dragons and his drawings in the staple book, Deities and Demigods.  Tonight the geeks got to talk to Jeff and Talzhemir about some of the gods and their places in the game, as well as some of the spirits and other pieces of their games CaveMaster and Bethorm.  Talzhemir as fans might remember is also know as Penumbra in the Ultima world.  She actually began her working career on Ulitma VI.  She has gone on to do many other things, not the least of which is bringing the CaveMaster art right to our table.

Listeners were also treated to the story of, what DungeonMaster calls “The greatest RPG love story…ever”.

You’ll be able to meet Jeff and Talzhemir at Celesticon as special guests!  Both are hold events you can sign up for and you can visit their booth and check out some of the great products they have been working on, or just to say “Hello!”.

You can find Jeff and Talzhemir’s work with CaveMaster, as well as their high fantasy RPG Quicksilver and many other RPG modules and settings at

So what is Bethorm, the Plane of Tekumel exactly?

In 1975 TSR published the first ever RPG setting in Empire of the Petal Throne.  The culmination of decades of work by M.A.R. Barker brought the Tekumel universe to players everywhere throughout the later half of the 70s and well into the 80s.  Various books were published and reprinted right up until 2005.  Then on April 13, 2014, Jeff Dee successfully funded his Kickstarter to bring Tekumel back to the RPG table.  This wasn’t a re-hash or re-print of the old material, this was a new game mechanic and new stories with all the familiar lore and setting of Tekumel.
