Neon Sanctum, Adam Waite & Fight Characters

Tonight the geeks were joined by Adam Waite, the creator of the new cyberpunk RPG called Neon Sanctum.  The gang talks all about fighting characters.  The ones you remember, and what they thought about them, but also maybe some of the ones you don’t remember.  Trunk Monkey wins the esoteric award with not one but TWO references to Thrill Kill.  He brings up Doctor Faustus and Cleetus.  We tried to forget the fact that Cleetus was a cannibal that would beat you to death with a human leg!

What is this Neon Sanctum RPG?

The best way to describe Neon Sanctum is CyberPunk surreal in a post apocalypse haze.  It is a wonderful blend of unique styling and gameplay rolled together.  As with many RPGs today, it’s use of cards with most vibrant artwork is not surprising.  What is surprising is the way you use those cards.  From items to characters to NPCs, Neon Sanctum is not a card game with RPG elements, it is most definitely an RPG with cards game elements.  First and foremost is the player, the basis for any good RPG. We are happy to report the gang liked it very much during play testing!

From the creator himself:

Neon Sanctum is a card based RPG set in a unique world where the post apocalypse and cyberpunk collide. This world takes inspiration from films such as Blade Runner, Dredd and Ghost in the Shell as well as games such as videogames such as Shadowrun Returns and The Last of Us.

Cards are used to represent all the things players would expect in a traditional roleplaying game (RPG). A character’s skills, their cybernetic implants, their equipment and even the enemies they meet are all brought to life with beautiful cards.

The game uses a fixed deck distribution model where the players receive all the cards they need to play the game. There is no random element, but the game is modular so new cards can be released as fixed sets and slot into your game easily.
